I have always been an avid reader, so you can imagine how much I enjoy judging the Edible Book competition each year at the New Orleans Museum of Art. Both professional and amateur pasty chefs create cakes themed around their favorite books, and the entries can be quite fabulous. I'll post some pictures next week. Judging begins at about 5:00 this Friday evening; the event is open to the public (museum admission $6 for children, $8 for seniors, $10 for adults), and you'll be asked to submit ballots for the People's Choice awards. Stop by and say hello. On Tuesday evening you'll find me at the Best Chefs of Louisiana event. The New Orleans chapter of the American Culinary Federation will be honoring chefs from all over the state; the event benefits the New Orleans Mission. Tickets are on sale now; guaranteed to be a tasty event! April 14 - 17 Cirque du Soleil will be performing OVO in Baton Rouge; I've seen them perform several times and it's always breathtaking. Put them on your bucket list if you've not seen them. As you can see by the length of the Events Calendar below, festival season is in full swing! Find something to do this weekend, enjoy this week's recipes, share them with family and friends, and as always, let me know what's on your mind.
